TOPEKA - Albert S. Yoder, 81, of Topeka, died at 3 a.m.Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018, at his residence.

He was born March 22, 1937, in Yoder, Kansas, to William D. and Susie (Yoder) Yoder.

Survivors in addition to his wife are four sons, Dannie (Mary Alice) Yoder of Middlebury, Willie (Naomah) Yoder of Millersburg, Clayton (Carolyn) Yoder of Topeka and Milton (Elaine) Yoder of Millersburg; three daughters, Josephine (DeWayne- deceased) Kauffman of Hodgdon, Maine, Regina (Earl) Mast of Topeka and Miriam (Merlin) Schlabach of Middlebury; 50 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; three brothers, William (Lora) Yoder of Syracuse, David (Ida Mae) Yoder of Shipshewana and Merle (Ottie) Yoder of Castalian Springs, Tennessee; three sisters, Polly Fry of Fairview, Michigan, Anna (Glen) Fry of Topeka and Ruby (Elmer) Byler of Millersburg; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Mae Yoder of Topeka and Carolyn Yoder of Topeka.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law DeWayne Kauffman; grandson Daniel Yoder; eight brothers, Daniel, Joseph, Herman, Amos, Perry, Ora, Elmer and Felty Yoder; seven sisters, Katie Cross, Sadie Summerlot, Betsy Fry, Clara Slabach, Susanna Keim, Vera Miller and Edna Fern Miller.

He was a retired carpenter and farmer, and a minister of the Old Order Amish Church.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28 and all day Saturday, Dec. 29 at the family residence, 7050 W. 500 S., Topeka.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, at the Marvin Lambright residence, 7115 W. 500 S., Topeka.

SARASOTA, Fla. - Anna (Borntrager) Yoder, 94, of Sarasota, formerly of Millersburg, died peacefully in her home Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018.

She was born Dec. 24, 1923, in Springers, New Mexico, to Jake and Ida Borntrager.

On Dec. 28, 1985, she married Mahlon Yoder in Sarasota. He preceded her in death April 4, 2002.

Anna was a housewife and had cooked at Sunnyside Nursing Home in Sarasota for more than 30 years.

She is survived by stepchildren Kenneth (Lydia Mae) Yoder, Alvin (Esther) Yoder, both of Sarasota, Martha (Mose) Coblentz Jr. of Middlebury, Marvin (Linda) Yoder of Dade City, Florida, Fred (Becky) Yoder of Sarasota, Laura (Maynard) Hochstetler of Middlebury, David Yoder of Union, Michigan, and Doug (Marlene) Yoder of Nappanee; stepdaughters-in-law Irene Yoder of Nappanee and Shirley Yoder of Middlebury; 38 stepgrandchildren; 92 stepgreat-grandchildren; sisters Sally (Lee) Hochstetler of Atmore, Alabama, Mary Keely of Sturgis, Michigan, and Susie (Amos) Schrock of Gladys, Virginia; brother Marvin (Joyce) Borntrager of Goshen; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mahlon Yoder; parents Jake and Ida Borntrager; stepsons Norman and Vernon Yoder; stepdaughter-in-law Carolyn Yoder; stepgrandson Bryan Yoder; stepgranddaughter Diane Yoder; and brothers Alvin, Orvin and Irvin Borntrager.

NAPPANEE - Anna Mae Yoder, 85, of Nappanee, died at 10:10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018 at her residence.

She was born Aug. 7, 1932 in Nappanee to William D. and Elizabeth (Hochstetler) Yoder.

Anna Mae lived her lifetime in this area. She was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Anna Mae worked as a nanny in Bremen for 15 years. She had also worked at Holiday Rambler and did house cleaning. Anna Mae was part of Triple A’s , with Alma Stutzman and Amanda Chupp . They served meals in their home for 37 years.

Surviving is her longtime friend Alma Stutzman, Nappanee; sisters, Mary Eicher, Bremen, Clara Ferne (Ezra) Gerig, Harlan, Rosanna (C. Duane) Yoder, Shipshewana; brothers, L. Michael Yoder, Chesterton, Steven P. (Diane) Yoder, Saginaw, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding in death were her parents; step-mother, Mary S. (Miller) Yoder; brothers, Edwin, Marvin, Glenn, Earl and Wayne; and longtime friend, Amanda Chupp.

Family and friends may call after 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018 and all day Wednesday, Feb. 7 at the Leon Stutzman residence (8954W Hepton Rd).

Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 8 also at the Stutzman residence.

Bishop David Mast and Ministers Marvin Hochstetler and Ron Miller will officiate.

Yoder, Anna Mae Mast, age 88, of Nappanee, died peacefully at 7:10 a.m., Friday, December 14, 2018 at her residence after an extended illness. She was born September 11, 1930 in Elkhart County to Eli A. and Lydia A. (Stutzman) Mast. On February 19, 1953 she married Perry Yoder. He preceded her in death on March 22, 2018. Anna was a lifetime area resident. She was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by daughters, Barbara Ann Yoder, Nappanee, Mary Alice (Glen E.) Helmuth, Etna Green, Susan Kay (John W.) Borkholder, and Frieda Arlene (Jonathan) Borkholder, both of Nappanee; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Yoder, Nappanee, Lydia Ann McDonald, Warsaw; sister-in-law, Fannie Mae Mast, Goshen; and a brother-in-law, Marvin D.R. Miller, Middlebury. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son, Danny Lee Yoder; grandchildren, Marcus Borkholder, Titus Helmuth, Perry Borkholder, Joseph Borkholder, Cynthia Borkholder; great-grandchild, Emily Helmuth; sisters, Frieda Miller and Mary Ann Gillespie; and a brother, Earl Mast.

Family and friends may call after 2 p.m., Saturday, December 15, 2018 and after 10 a.m. Sunday, December 16th at the John W. Borkholder residence (29902 C.R. 56, Nappanee). Yoder, Anna Margaret Shirey, 98, of Wooster, Wayne Co., OH died January 23, 2018 at Albuquerque, NM. She was born August 18, 1919 at New Stanton, PA to Logan D. and Rose Shirey. She was married to Fred Yoder, who died in 2002.

Surviving are children, Fred (June) Yoder, Jr. and Rachel (Mel) Gingerich; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

LUTZ, Fla. - B. William Yoder, 90, of Lutz, formerly of Goshen, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, in Tampa, Florida.

He was born July 22, 1927, in Conway Springs, Kansas, to Levi M. and Gertrude (Miller) Yoder.

He is survived by a daughter, Cynthia (Ron) Rees of Bradenton, Florida; a son, Gregory (Michalene) Yoder of Tampa, Florida; five grandchildren, Catherine and Christopher Rees, William, Jennifer and Rachel Yoder; one great-granddaughter, Alyssa Rees Pillsbury; sisters Mary (Alvin) Miller of Goshen and Gertie (Orvil) Christner of Wolcottville; and brothers Alvin Yoder of Middlebury and Lee Yoder of Thailand.

Following World War II, he served with PAX for several years in Europe building homes and infrastructure.

Without a high school diploma, he entered Goshen College where he met and married Carol Corbett in 1960. He graduated with an associate’s degree.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; sisters Anna Troyer, Edna Troyer, Sarah Miller and Polly Mast; and a brother, Samuel Yoder.

B. William was a well-known livestock auctioneer for more than 50 years in the Michiana area and in charge of organizing the Michiana Mennonite Relief Sale auctioneers for 38 years.

He was a member of 8th Street Mennonite Church, Goshen Exchange Club, Elkhart Moose Lodge and National and State Auctioneers’ Associations.

GOSHEN - Charles D. Yoder, 80, died Saturday, July 14, 2018, at Courtyard Healthcare.

She survives along with two children, Chuck Yoder, Goshen, and Shelley (Deb Wolfe) Yoder, Fishers; two granddaughters, Kayla Renee and Alicia Nicole; a great-granddaughter, Leighton Olivia; a brother, M. Marion (Wanda) Yoder, Goshen, and two sisters, Alice A. (Dennis) Risser and Nancy L. (Cloyce) Nofziger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael Phillip Yoder, and two brothers, John W. and Frederick Yoder.

A lifetime Goshen resident, Mr. Yoder attended Middlebury High School and Bethany High School, where he graduated in 1956. He worked at Goshen Stamping, in security at Goshen College, delivered RVs and drove shuttle cab for Norfolk Southern.

A member of North Goshen Mennonite Church, Chuck enjoyed woodworking, camping, fishing and spending time with his family.

Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. Thursday funeral service at North Goshen Mennonite Church. Pastor Mark Schloneger will officiate.

Funeral services for Christian R. "Chriss" Yoder will be held Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at 9:30 AM at the Perry Bender Residence, 2710 560th St. SW, Kalona, with burial following at the Peter Miller Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, Dec. 30 from 2 - 8PM and Monday, Dec. 31 from 10:30 - 7:30 AM all at the Perry Bender Residence. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family. Christian Ray Yoder was born November 30, 1930 in Johnson County, Iowa, the son of Edward G. and Anna (Ropp) Yoder. He was baptized in the Old Order Amish Church in his youth and remained a faithful member until his death. He was united in marriage to Eldora S. Mast on October 25, 1951 in Kalona, and they lived in matrimony 67 years. To this union were born four sons and three daughters. Chriss died suddenly from an apparent heart failure in his home at the age of 88 years and 28 days.

He is survived by his wife Eldora and seven children: Cephas and wife Emma Yoder, Mahlon and wife Bertha Yoder, Verna and husband Perry Bender all of Kalona, Edna and husband Perry Miller of Windsor, MO, Wesley and wife Verlene Yoder of Brighton, IA, Samuel and wife Norma Yoder and Louise and husband Tobias Yoder of Kalona, 56 grandchildren, 143 great-grandchildren, three brothers: J. Edward and wife Treva Yoder of Goshen, IN, Alton and wife Susie Yoder and Marvin and wife Elizabeth Yoder of Crofton, KY, two brothers-in-law: Eddie J. Miller of Kalona and Herman E. Miller of Guthrie, KY.

Preceding Chriss in death were his parents, three brothers: Sylvanus, Thomas and Lewis, four sisters: Viola, Edna, Dorothy, Lydia Anna, three grandchildren and four great -grandchildren.

LAGRANGE - Doris D. Yoder, 89, of LaGrange, died at her home, Wednesday, May 2, 2018.

She was born March 2, 1929, in Elkhart, to Franklin and Wilma (Peoples) Cummings.

She was a member of the Emma Mennonite Church, in Topeka, where she was a member of the quilting and sewing clubs.

On Feb. 20, 1952, in Elkhart, she married Maurice A. Yoder; he preceded her in death Nov. 30, 2007.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and Jim Graves of Goshen, and Kelly and Tim Miller of Middlebury; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Martha Yoder of LaGrange, and Gary and Dawn Yoder of LaGrange; a son-in-law, Jack Nelson of Shipshewana; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Sharon Cummings of Marcellus, Michigan.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Wilma Cummings, and a daughter, Cheryl Nelson.

Funeral services will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at the Emma Mennonite Church, 1900 S 600 W, Topeka. The Rev. Gene Hartman will officiate. Burial will follow in Shore Cemetery in Shipshewana.

GOSHEN - Esther Bernice Yoder, 90, of Greencroft Goshen, passed through death into life on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018.

She was born April 14, 1928, to Sanford N. Mishler and Millie (Nusbaum) Mishler in Shipshewana.

She is survived by her husband, Galen; and five of their six children, Retha (Franklin) Baer of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Rosalie Yoder of Hampton, Virginia, Ronald (Jane) Yoder of Wolcottville, Roberta (Terry) Bontrager of Central Asia, and Rodney (Verna) Yoder of West Lafayette; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and her two sisters, Eva Miller of Manistee, Michigan and Eleanor (Bruce) Troyer of Howe.

She was also devoted to transporting children to Sunday school and helping them with crafts.

She, and her husband Galen, were actively involved in music and leadership positions in several churches: Maple Grove Mennonite, Topeka, Wawasee Lakeside Chapel, Syracuse, Topeka Mennonite Church, and Waterford Mennonite Church, Goshen. They were also active members and leaders with Gideons International.

Visitation will be at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, from 2-5 p.m Sunday Dec. 16.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 17, at Waterford Mennonite Church.

Memorial donations may be given to Gideons International or Bethany Christian Schools.

Yoder, Esther Berniece Mishler, 90, of Goshen, Elkhart Co., IN died December 12, 2018 at the same place. She was born April 14, 1928 at Shipshewana, LaGrange Co., IN to Sanford N. and Millie (Nusbaum) Mishler. On April 17, 1948 she was married to Galen L. Yoder, who was born August 4, 1925 and survives.

Surviving are children, Retha (Franklin) Baer; Rosalie Yoder; Ronald (Jane) Yoder; Roberta (Terry) Bontrager; and Rodney (Verna) Yoder; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Eva Miller and Eleanor (Bruce) Troyer.

A son, Russel Wayne Yoder and siblings, Eula I. Mishler, Walter L. Mishler, John W. Mishler, and James W. Mishler preceded her in death.

Esther was a great gardener, quilter and lover of jigsaw puzzles. She was also devoted to transporting children to Sunday School and helping them with crafts. She, and husband Galen, were actively involved in music and leadership positions in several churches: Maple Grove Mennonite, Topeka, IN; Wawasee Lakeside Chapel, Syracuse, IN; Topeka Mennonite Church, Topeka, IN, and Waterford Mennonite Church, Goshen. They were also active members and leaders with Gideons International.

Memorial services were held December 17, 2018 at Waterford Mennonite Church, Goshen, IN with burial in Maple Grove Cemetary, Topeka, LaGrange, IN.

Yoder, Galen C., 63, of Troy, PA died March 23, 2018 at Sayre, PA. He was born April 28, 1954 at Sellersville, PA to Clyde and Lydia (Detweiler) Yoder. On November 1, 1975 he was married to Deborah J. Moyer, who was born June 30, 1959 and survives.

Surviving are his father who was born August 9, 1930; and siblings, Delphine Michels, Sandra Horst, Gladys Brand, and Dean Yoder.

Memorial services were held March 28, 2018 at Sylvania Presbyterian Church, Sylvania, PA with burial in Glenwood Cemetery, Troy, PA.

SHIPSHEWANA - Joshua David Yoder, 17, of Shipshewana, died at 1 a.m. Sunday, June 17, at his residence from complications of muscular dystrophy.

He was born on March 25, 2001, in Goshen, to David Wayne and Rebekah “Becky” (Miller) Yoder.

Surviving in addition to his parents, of Shipshewana, are sister Kara Renae Yoder, at home; grandparents John R. and Waneta Miller of Topeka, and David J. and Ida Yoder of Shipshewana; and great-grandfather Monroe Barkman of Topeka. He was preceded in death by a brother, Aaron John Yoder.

Joshua was a sophomore at Westview High and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Monday, June 18, and all day Tuesday, June 19, at the family residence, 9380 W. C.R. 250N, Shipshewana. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, also at the residence. Burial will be in Naylor Cemetery, Shipshewana.

LUBBOCK, Texas - Leonard J. Yoder, 97, of Lubbock, formerly of Wakarusa, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 29, 1921, in Wakarusa to Alvin and Ruth (Weldy) Yoder. On June 6, 1942, he married Wilma L. Barkey in Nappanee. She preceded him in death April 13, 2015.

Surviving are children Dawn (David) Bender of Lubbock and Lance (Claris) Yoder of Indianapolis; grandchildren Mark (Jodi) Bender of Wichita Falls, Bethany (John) Kelly of Lexington, Lindsey (Eric) Starr of Charlotte and Blair (Stephanie) Yoder of Indianapolis; and eight great-grandchildren with a ninth expected in November.

Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Wakarusa. Burial will be in Olive Cemetery at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, with services at 11 a.m. at Olive Mennonite Church. The Rev. Kevin Yoder and the Rev. Dr. Mark Bender, a grandson, will officiate.

Yoder, Leonard J., 97, of Lubbock, TX died August 8, 2018 at the same place. He was born January 29, 1921 at Wakarusa, Elkhart Co., IN to Alvin and Ruth (Weldy) Yoder. On June 6, 1942 at Nappanee, Elkhart Co., IN he was married to Wilma Barkey, who is deceased.

Surviving are children, Dawn (David) Bender, and Lance (Claris) Yoder; four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

LeRoy O. Yoder, 43, of Millersburg, died at 7:18 am on Sunday, October 14, at St. Joseph Medical Center, Ft. Wayne, from injuries sustained of an accident two weeks prior. He was born on December 4, 1974 in LaGrange County to Orval and Linda (Hershberger) Yoder. On April 18, 1996 in Middlebury he married Ruby Bontrager, she survives.

Lester A. Yoder, 88, Goshen, died 4 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018 at Courtyard Healthcare. He was born Oct. 24, 1930 in Tuscola, Illinois to Abe & Lydia (Overhalt) Yoder. He married Florine Mae (Lehman) Yoder on June 2, 1956 in Ohio.

Surviving are his wife, Florine, Goshen, 4 sons, Keith (Linda) Yoder, Goshen, Bruce (Lauri) Yoder, Middlebury, Doug (Stacy) Yoder, Middlebury, Jay (Joy) Yoder, Charlotte, North Carolina, 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and siblings, Ervin (Bernadine) Yoder, Arthur, Illinois, Arlene Yoder, Arthur, Illinois and Elmina (John) Yoder, Iowa.

Lester helped supply transportation to the Amish, worked in farming and then in factory work. He was a member of Sunnyside Mennonite Church. Lester loved to walk and to garden. He enjoyed trimming out houses and woodworking with wishing wells.

Yoder, Morris Harvey, 95, of Harrisonburg, passed away June 23, 2018, at Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community. He was born in Warwick County, Va., on June 4, 1923, to J. Harvey Yoder and Irene Hertzler Yoder.

Morris was the youngest in a family of 10 children and was raised on a dairy farm with the help of his seven sisters and two brothers. As a toddler, he was saved from drowning by his four-year-old sister, Helena, and as a young man, he was run over by a bus and recovered fully. In middle age, he lost an eye to ocular melanoma and outlived the cancer by half a century.

He married Janet Elizabeth Weaver on Aug. 10, 1948. They were married for 69 years and 10 months. Morris dairy farmed and served as president of Colony Farms Cooperative Dairy. Later in his professional career he pursued other business ventures. Morris was an active member and leader in the life of Warwick River Mennonite Church. With his wife, he retired to Harrisonburg, where he became a member of Lindale Mennonite Church. In retirement, Morris continued to pursue his lifelong enjoyments of reading and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; daughter and husband, Bonnie and Jim Beachy of Hinton, Va.; son, Ray Yoder of Union, Mich.; daughter and husband, Jewel and James Hertzler of Harrisonburg, Va.; son and wife, Richard and Diane Yoder of Elkhart County, Ind.; grandchildren, Elizabeth Hansen and husband, David, Kirsten Beachy and husband, Jason Alderfer, Rachel Yoder and husband, Greg Dixon, Jenna Yoder and husband, Joe Hartman, Luke Yoder and fiancé, Meghan Borland, Kate Yoder, Nick Hertzler; eight great-grandchildren; his sister, Helena Yoder Wells of Harrisonburg, Va.; many nieces and nephews, and a loving extended family.

A memorial service will be held at Strite Auditorium on the campus of Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at 11 a.m. The body was cremated.

Yoder, Myron S., 84, of Goshen, died Thursday, May 3, 2018, at The Maples at Waterford Crossing.

He was born November 25, 1933 in Goshen to Myron S. and Elsie May (Landis) Yoder.

On August 17, 1958 he married Julia Ann Yoder in Sarasota, Florida. She died October 31, 2006.

Survivors include two children, Karen Yoder of North Port, Florida and Kevin (Robin) Yoder of Goshen; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a sister, Mary Etta Yoder of Sarasota, Florida.

A graduate of Sarasota High School, Myron attended Goshen College for two years before doing PAX Service in Germany and Austria from 1954-56.

Myron worked in the van, trailer and RV industry for 25 years. He was a volunteer with the Jefferson Fire Department ambulance service. After retirement he worked in the WalMart photo lab where he enjoyed sharing his love for photography with others.

A longtime member of Pleasant View Church, he worked with the audio ministry. He enjoyed making cds for those who could not attend services.

Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 11, 2018, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the 11 a.m., Saturday, funeral service at Pleasant View Church. Pastors Ron Diener and Tyler Hartford will officiate.

Yoder, Pauline K. Gehman, 92, of Lancaster, Lancaster Co., PA died June 7, 2018 at the same place. She was born August 24, 1925 at Allentown, PA. On April 9, 1950 she was married to David S. Yoder, who was born July 24, 1920 and died May 7, 2006.

Surviving are a son, Dale W., wife Audrey of Mt. Joy; daughter, Karen Gyger, husband John, of Lancaster; two brothers, Robert Gehman, wife Addie of Coopersburg and Henry Gehman, wife Jane of Sellersville & four grandchildren: Julie, Mitchell, Jaclyn, and Melanie: and great-granddaughters, Olivia and Violet.

Yoder, Perry E., age 88, of Nappanee, died at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 22, 2018 at his residence, after a short illness. He was born February 15, 1930 in LaGrange to Enos D. and Lydia J. (Raber) Yoder. He was a lifetime area resident. On February 19, 1953 he married Anna Mae Mast in Nappanee. Perry was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. He was retired.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Mae Yoder, Nappanee; daughters, Barbara Ann Yoder, Nappanee, Mary Alice (Glen E.) Helmuth, Etna Green, Susan Kay (John W.) GOSHEN - Richard W. Yoder, 88, died peacefully Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018, in Goshen Hospital, surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

He was born Nov. 8, 1929, in Midland, Michigan, to Henry and Velma Miller Yoder (deceased).

He married Loretta Shrock of Alden, New York, in July of 1958, and had two children, Sanna Yoder Walters (Rick) of La Crosse, Wisconsin, and Lisa Caskey (Jim) of Goshen.

In 1988 and to the delight of his family, he married college friend Barbara Roth Weldy (deceased 2012) of Morton, Illinois, forming a new family that now includes his stepchildren, Al Weldy (Carla) of Goshen, and Stanley Weldy (Barbara Fischer) of Madison, Wisconsin.

One of Richard’s greatest joys was caring for, spending time with and gently guiding his blended family of grandchildren Lewis (Maryn Munley) and Emma (Jackson Bush) Caskey, Maya and Jae Walters, Malaina and Landon Weldy, Marissa (Bensly) Melidor, Alex and Sasha Weldy and Ariane Fischer.

Richard embodied faith in action, spending his lifetime serving and ministering to others.

He graduated from Goshen College in 1955, later earning a bachelor’s of theology from Goshen Biblical Seminary and a master’s of sacred theology from Christian Theological Seminary, Indianapolis.

Early in his career, he did voluntary service with Mennonite Central Committee in Gulfport, Mississippi, and then served as Dean of Men for Goshen College.

Richard was both a youth and lead pastor of North Main Street Mennonite Church in Nappanee, Indiana, then served as pastor of First Mennonite Church, Indianapolis, for 16 years.

He established the pastoral care program at Community Hospital North, Indianapolis, where he served until his retirement in 1996.

Richard was called out of retirement after he and Barbara spent a year as hosts at the International Guest House in Washington, D.C., to serve Indiana-Michigan Mennonite Conference as conference minister during two terms from 1999 to 2002.

Wherever there was a need, Richard invested hard work and energy as a volunteer.

He also volunteered with Mennonite Disaster Service, Habitat for Humanity, The Window Food Pantry, Interfaith Hospitality Network, Greencroft, La Casa, and Goshen Hospital Cancer Center.

He will be remembered as an avid reader, a woodworker, a cyclist and a traveler.

Family and friends may call from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, in the Gathering Rooms at College Mennonite Church, Goshen.

He was born on January 18, 1942 in LaGrange County, to William D. and Elizabeth (Bontrager) Yoder. On November 28, 1963, in LaGrange County, he married Elizabeth Raber; she survives.

Yoder, Steve L., age 93, of Nappanee, died Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at his residence. He was born March 27, 1924 in Burton, OH to Levi and Elizabeth Yoder. On February 29, 1948 he married Alice Kuhns. She preceded him in death in 2006. Steve was ordained as a minister in 1952, then served as bishop of Maple Lawn Amish Mennonite Church, Nappanee, for 39 years. He was a plumbing and heating contractor for many years as well as a “little red barn” builder. Steve and Alice served in Belize under Amish Mennonite Aid from 1977 – 1980. Steve was founder of Mexico Mennonite Aid, working among the Mennonite colonies of Mexico since January 1996.

He is survived by his children, Glen Dale (Salome) Yoder, Middleburg, PA, Mary Jane (Jose, “Chente”) Mejia, Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica, Ruth Ann (Marvin) Schmucker, Goshen, Bertha Mae (Steven) Hulse, Nappanee, David Allen (Christine) Yoder, Elkhart, Steven Jay Yoder, Etna Green, John Wayne (Linda) Yoder, New Paris; siblings, Melvin Yoder, Gertrude Miller, and Naomi Mast; 28 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law; and one brother-in-law. Yutzy, Katherine “Kay”, 91, of Goshen died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2018 at Greencroft Healthcare.

She was born August 4, 1927 to Emery and Florence (Kramer) Yutzy in Plain City, Ohio. She grew up on a dairy farm with seven brothers and three sisters attending the Canaan Amish Mennonite Church and was baptized there at age 15.

Kay chose a celibate life of service beginning with voluntary service in Kansas City prior to nursing education at Eastern Mennonite University, formerly College, Harrisonburg, Virginia, and La Junta Mennonite School of Nursing, Colorado. After graduation she worked as a staff nurse in Otero County Health Dept. as a School and Migratory Laborer Nurse.

In 1959 she completed her BSc. Nursing at Colorado Univ., Boulder. Her career in nursing education began at Bloomington, Illinois, four years, before entering Case Western Univ. for a Master’s degree. Joining the Elkhart Mission Network, she continued her teaching in Dhamtari, India and ended when she retired from Goshen College nursing faculty after 17 years there. In between Kay managed return trips to Dhamtari to assist in upgrading the School of Nursing/Midwifery to a College status where they now have over 300 students in three different nursing programs.

Kay spent one summer in voluntary service in Mississippi as relief nurse in a Holistic Health Clinic, did graduate studies at Indiana University, took trips with Nurse Educator Groups to China, South Africa and Australia. She was active in the Nurses Association and the Mennonite Nurses Assoc.

In community service she served with Books Abroad Program, AAUW, Great Decision Discussion groups and College Mennonite Church. After retirement these activities were continued along with voluntary work in Hospice, the Church, Greencroft and Walnut Court, Greencroft. At church she was active in neighborhood group, K-group, adult choir, Home Builder’s Sunday School class, Service committee and visitation. She taught Sunday school and sang in choirs in each area she served except in India and was a charter member of First Mennonite Church of Bloomington, Illinois.

Kay enjoyed her family, neighbors, friends, her vegetable garden and flower beds. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling in the United States and abroad.

Survivors include three brothers, Paul Yutzy and Allen Yutzy, of Plain City, Ohio and Homer Yutzy of Wauseon, Ohio; two sisters, Ada Schlabach of Sun City, Arizona and Esther Zeitz of Solon, Ohio. She was Aunt to 36 nieces and nephews and 75 plus great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Daniel, Norman, Ralph and Valentine; a sister, Lula Thomas.

Friends may call one hour prior to the 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019 memorial service at College Mennonite Church, Goshen in the Koinonia Room.

Yutzy, Katherine, 91, of Goshen, Elkhart Co., IN died December 23, 2018 at the same place. She was born August 4, 1927 at Plain City, Madison Co., Ohio to Emery and Florence (Kramer) Yutzy.

Surviving are brothers, Paul Yutzy and Allen Yutzy, of Plain City, Ohio and Homer Yutzy of Wauseon, Ohio; sisters, Ada Schlabach of Sun City, Arizona and Esther Zeitz of Solon, Ohio.

Brothers Daniel, Norman, Ralph and Valentine; a sister, Lula Thomas preceded her in death.

In 1959, she completed her BS in nursing at Colorado Univ., Boulder. Her career in nursing education began at Bloomington, Illinois, four years, before entering Case Western Univ. for a Master’s degree. Joining the Elkhart Mission Network, she continued her teaching in Dhamtari, India and ended when she retired from Goshen College nursing faculty after 17 years there. In between Kay managed return trips to Dhamtari to assist in upgrading the School of Nursing/Midwifery to a College status where they now have over 300 students in three different nursing programs.

In community service she served with Books Abroad Program, AAUW, Great Decision Discussion groups and College Mennonite Church. After retirement these activities were continued along with voluntary work in Hospice, the church, Greencroft and Walnut Court, Greencroft. At church she was active in neighborhood group, K-group, adult choir, Home Builder’s Sunday School class, Service committee and visitation. She taught Sunday school and sang in choirs in each area she served except in India and was a charter member of First Mennonite Church of Bloomington, Illinois.

Kay enjoyed her family, neighbors, friends, her vegetable garden and flower beds. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling in the United States and abroad.

Memorial services were held January 5, 2019 at College Mennonite Church, Goshen, IN with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Zehr, Lois Marie Nussbaum, 92, of Hesston, Harvey Co., KS died June 12, 2018 at the same place from Parkinson's disease. She was born May 25, 1926 at Streetsboro, OH to Noah and Pearl Detwiler (Myers) Nussbaum. On June 7, 1947 she was married to Ray Zehr, who was born December 1, 1921 and died July 8, 2009.

Surviving are children, Nancy Zehr Shear, and Terry (Tina Svenson) Zehr; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two brothers, Oris Nussbaum, and Lowell (Sally) Nussbaum, and a sister, Mary Nicolegge.

Memorial services were held August 18, 2018 at Schowalter Villa Chapel, Hesston, KS with burial in Lakeview Cemetery, Hesston, KS.

Zeiset, Margaret B. Reiff, 87, of New Holland, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 20, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Jonas and Minnie Burkholder Reiff and was the wife of the late Aaron M. Zeiset.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Groffdale Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.

Margaret is survived by: three sons, Jonas husband of Esther Stauffer Zeiset of Lewisburg, Aaron husband of Marian Weaver Zeiset of Leola, John Jacob at home; two daughters, Lydia wife of Isaac Shirk of Leola, Minnie wife of Allen Burkholder of New Holland; 15 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by: a son, Amos Zeiset; two brothers, Jacob and Aaron Reiff and a sister, Esther Zimmerman.

The funeral will be held at the home of Minnie and Allen Burkholder, 1091 W. Main St., New Holland on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 9:00 am with further services at 9:30 am at the Groffdale (Frame) Mennonite Church, 90 Groffdale Church Rd., Leola, PA with the Bishop Ammon Weaver officiating. Zimmerman, Abram E., 85, formerly of Myerstown, PA, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018 in the Lincoln Christian Home, Ephrata. He was the husband of the late Gracetta Sensenig Zimmerman.

He was born in Earl Township, Lancaster County on July 13, 1932, a son of the late George N. and Mary Ella Martin Zimmerman. Abram worked on the farm his whole life and was a member of the Fairview Mennonite Church of the Weaverland Conference.

He is survived by children, Irene wife of Glenn Weaver of Ephrata; Sylvia wife of Aaron Nolt of Mohnton; Elmer husband of Betty Weaver Zimmerman of Lititz; Glen husband of Judy Hursh Zimmerman of Myerstown; Nelson Zimmerman of Lebanon; Dale husband of Janet Zimmerman Zimmerman of Myerstown; 25 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; brother, Ammon Zimmerman of New Holland; sister, Anna Lauver of Ephrata; sister-in-law, Verna Zimmerman of Ephrata.

Zimmerman, Arlene H. Wenger Martin, 77, formerly of Lititz, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018 at Fairmount Homes. She was born in Ephrata to the late Harry Z. and Suzanna (Horst) Wenger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan N. Zimmerman (2003) and her first husband, Leroy H. Martin (1994). As a homemaker, Arlene enjoyed gardening, reading and babysitting. Zimmerman, Arlene Z. [Nolt], 75, of East Farmersville Road, Ephrata, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018. She was the wife of Luke Ray Zimmerman, with whom she celebrated their 56th anniversary in March. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church.

She loved spending time with her family. Her grandchildren will remember her for their sleep-overs, decorating their birthday cakes, and phone calls with her singing Happy Birthday. In addition to being a wife, mother and grandmother, she helped her husband with his sugar business.

In addition to her husband, Arlene is survived by 4 children: Darla, wife of Eli Nolt, Carolyn, wife of Marvin Horst, Jerry Zimmerman, husband of Lois, & Judy, wife of Michael Groff; 21 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters: Mabel Hurst, and Vera, wife of Raymond Martin.

Zimmerman, Doris E. Brubaker, 81, of Myerstown, passed away Friday, November 2, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. She was the wife of Levi W. Zimmerman, Jr. with whom she shared 63 years of marriage on Mar. 26th.

Doris, a daughter of the late Joseph H. and Nora (Sensenig) Brubaker, was born in Lancaster County. In addition to her husband, she is survived by eight children, Miriam B., wife of Landis M. Martin, Richland, Clair B. Zimmerman, husband of Gloria, FL, Marvin B. Zimmerman, FL, Leon B. Zimmerman, husband of Nancy, Narvon, Kenneth B. Zimmerman, husband of Orpha, Lebanon, Mervin B. Zimmerman, husband of Joanne, Rehrersburg, Harold B. Zimmerman, husband of Janice, Bethel, and Joy B., wife of Nathan Noecker, Auburn; a brother, Joseph D. Brubaker, husband of Brenda, Bernville; two foster brothers, Paul Brugger, AR, and John Brugger, husband of Ruth, Bethel; 40 grandchildren; and 72 great-grandchildren. She was employed as a nurses aide for the Wernersville State Hospital for more than 25 years, having previously been employed with the Hamburg State Hospital.

Orrstown: Enos Nolt Zimmerman, 77, passed away Monday, January 1, 2018 at his home.

Born Sunday, January 28, 1940 in Clay Township, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Abraham B. and Ada M. Nolt Zimmerman.

Enos was a member of the Oakville Mennonite Church. He was a lifelong farmer.

Bethel - Harvey N. Zimmerman, 84, of Bethel, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018, at his daughter's home. He was the husband of the late Louella K. Martin Zimmerman.

Born in Ephrata on December 30, 1933, he was the son of the late Abraham and Ada Nolt Zimmerman. Harvey was a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church of the Weaverland Conference.

He is survived by his sons Carl husband of Ruth Zimmerman of Bethel and James husband of Sharon Zimmerman of Myerstown; daughters Lois wife of Adam Martin, Jr., of Bethel, Eva Jane wife of Daniel Hoover, Jr., of Blain, Ella Mae wife of Mervin Hursh of Ephrata and Darlene wife of Michael Zimmerman of Annville; brothers Paul, Levi, Titus and David; sisters Ada wife of Lloyd Sensenig and Anna wife of Marvin Reiff; 37 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren.

Myerstown - John W. Zimmerman, 97 of Myerstown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 20, 2018 in his home. He was the husband of Emma (Hurst) Zimmerman, with whom he was married to for 76 years. He was born in Lancaster County on August 4, 1921, a son of the late Henry and Susan (Weiler) Zimmerman. Mr. Zimmerman was a farmer. He was a member of the Richland Mennonite Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife is his son: Leroy, husband of Grace (Martin) Zimmerman, Myerstown; three brothers: Amos Zimmerman of Ephrata; Aaron, husband of Barbara (Yordy) Zimmerman, Manheim; Ray, husband of Elsie (Zimmerman) Zimmerman, Martindale; sister: Ada, wife of Thomas Sadler, Myerstown; granddaughter: Rochelle (Zimmerman), wife of Carl Sensenig; grandson: Gary, husband of Anita (Nolt) Zimmerman; nine great grandchildren.

John was predeceased by his son: Clarence H. Zimmerman; three sisters: Martha Nolt; Nettie Martin and Eva Zimmerman; brother: Eli Zimmerman.

Zimmerman, Katie N. Burkholder, 70, of Leola, passed away at her residence on Monday, September 17, 2018, under the care of hospice.

Born on May 6, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Samuel R. and Anna Mary S. (Nolt) Burkholder.

In addition to her husband, Katie is survived by two daughters, Anita Zimmerman of Leola, Ellen, wife of Reuben Burkholder of Greenwood, WI; a son-in-law, Ezra Burkholder of Greenwood, WI; 19 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson and seven siblings, Paul, Esther, Anna Mary, Sarah, Elsie, Elmer (Mary), all of Leola and Leroy (Annetta) of East Earl.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marian (August 2018); a son, Elvin (April 1972) and three siblings, Willis, Martha, and Ivan.

A viewing will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the late residence, 1073 Creek Road, Leola. Zimmerman, Kervin G., 64, of Myerstown, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 14, 2018, at his home after a three and a half year battle with cancer. He was the husband of Janet M. (Hoover) Zimmerman. Born in Myerstown on October 3, 1953, he was the son of the late John Jacob and late Lena (Good) Zimmerman. Kervin was a member of the Richland Mennonite Church.

He is survived by his children: Jason, husband of Sara (Martin) of Schuylkill Haven; Joanne, wife of Elvin Zimmerman of Manns Choice; Jeryl, husband of Lydia (Horst) of Myerstown; Joel, husband of Karen (Jones) of Myerstown; and Jay, Jeffrey, and Jolene, who still live at home. In addition, he is survived by three brothers: Melvin, husband of Kathryn, of Richland; Richard, husband of Vera Mae, of Lititz; Ernest, husband of Anna Ruth, of Belle Rive, IL; and four sisters: Mary Jane, wife of Harry Martin, of Myerstown; Miriam, wife of Harold Good, of Stevens; Martha, wife of Lloyd Snyder, of Fredericksburg; Erma, wife of Clair Martin, of Myerstown.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Raymond; and one sister, Anna Mae Lehman.

Zimmerman, Lloyd B., 71, of Orchard Road, (Snydertown Road) Danville, passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born June 18, 1947, in Leola, a son of the late Isaac N. and Alta G. (Burkholder) Zimmerman. On March 16, 1968 he married the former Verna G. Musser and they have celebrated 50 years of marriage.

A dairy farmer, he owned and operated Lloyd Zimmerman and Sons Farm in Rush Township, Northumberland County since 1977.

Surviving besides his wife, Verna Zimmerman, at home, are three sons and daughters-in-law, Nevin E. and Megan Zimmerman, Neal M. and Carrie Zimmerman, and Merle M. and Janice Zimmerman, all of Danville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Wilma M. and Rosario Luna of Danville, Bonita M. and Dana Martin of Howard, and Paula M. and Curtis Horning of Herndon; 21 grandchildren; four brothers, Mervin Zimmerman of Denver, Pa., Leroy Zimmerman of Lititz, Raymond Zimmerman of Blaine, and Elvin Zimmerman of Leola; and four sisters, Elizabeth Horst and Vera Brubaker, both of Carlisle, Katie Mae Nolt of Richland, and Ellen Weaver of Annville.

Zimmerman, Lloyd H., 80, of New Holland, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018, at his home.

He was born in Ephrata to the late Edwin and Lydia (Hurst) Zimmerman and was the husband of Vera M. (Nolt) Zimmerman.

Lloyd was a member of New Holland Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference. He had worked as a horse trainer and farmer.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by seven children, Norma N., wife of Alvin O. Zimmerman of Greenwich, OH, Leon Z., husband of Anna (Martin) Zimmerman of Leola, Ivan Z., husband of Lucy (Martin) Zimmerman of Ephrata, Verna Z., wife of Eugene Zimmerman of Ephrata, J. Lloyd, husband of Ella (Martin) Zimmerman of Leola, Glen Z., husband of Emma (Martin) Zimmerman of New Holland, Lucy Z., wife of Joe Oberholtzer of New Holland; 54 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; a brother, Edwin, wife of Esther Zimmerman of New Holland; two sisters, Lena Mae, wife of Irwin Nolt of East Earl, Ruth Ann Zimmerman of Latham, MO and a sister-in-law, Miriam Zimmerman of Versailles, MO.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson; one great-grandson; a sister, Mary, wife of the late Marvin Brubacker and a brother, Phares Zimmerman.

Zimmerman, Marian W. Zimmerman, 87, formerly of Myerstown, entered into rest on Wednesday, March 21, at Lincoln Christian Home, Ephrata. She was the wife of the late Amos M. Zimmerman. She was born December 10, 1930 in Earl Township to the late Eli B. and Mary Ellen (Martin) Zimmerman.

She was a member of the Weaverland Mennonite Church of the Weaverland Conference.

She is survived by two sons, Clair Z. (Anna Mary Kurtz) Weaver of Narvon, and Steven Z. (Fay Martin Weaver of Newmanstown); four daughters, Marie Z. (Mark Nolt) of Ephrata, Julia Z. (Eric Deppen) of Elizabethtown, Pearl Z. (Curtis Hoover) of Manheim, and Phyllis Z. (John Fry) of Ephrata; 25 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Zimmerman; and four sisters, Kathryn (Milton) Horst, Mary Jane (Isaac) Musser, Edna Mae Oberholtzer, and Sylvia (Harold) Martin. Also Surviving are seven step-children, Earl (Ruth) Zimmerman, Cynthia (Leroy) Zimmerman, George (Margaret) Zimmerman, Leon (Donna) Zimmerman, Lester (Marian) Zimmerman, Jane (Warren) Zimmerman, and Ann (Leland) Martin.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, George M. Weaver, who passed away in 1984, two infant grandsons and a sister, Anna Frances (Zimmerman) Wenger.

Zimmerman, Marvin E., 73, of 1075 Weaverland Rd., East Earl, died unexpectedly of natural causes on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at his home. His wife of 52 years, Grace S. (Zimmerman) Zimmerman, survives.

Born in East Earl, he was the son of the late Martin S. and Lizzie (Eberly) Zimmerman.

Marvin was a farmer and a member of Weaverland Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children: Rosene married to Wilmer Nolt, Peach Bottom; Thelma married to Ronald Wenger, Lititz; Marvin Lee married to Delphine (Reiff) Zimmerman, East Earl; Robert Zimmerman, at home; 15 grandchildren and a sister Esther married to John Jacob Rutt, Ephrata.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 9 a.m. at the Martindale Mennonite Reception Center with further services at 9:30 a.m. at Weaverland Mennonite Church with Bishop Amos G. Martin, Amos K. Martin, David Martin and Paul Hurst, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Zimmerman, Paul Z., 92, of Myerstown, PA, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018 in the Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon, PA. He was the husband of the late Anna Z. Nolt Zimmerman. He was born in East Earl Township, Lancaster County on October 12, 1925, a son of the late Eli and Christianna Zimmerman Zimmer-man. Paul worked as a farmer and later in life was employed by Wenger's Farm Machinery in Myerstown. He was a member of Mt. Zion Mennonite Church of the Weaverland Conference.

He is survived by children, Mary Ella Zimmerman and husband Alvin of Auburn, NY; Irvin Zimmerman and wife Arlene of Savannah, NY; Paul Zimmerman and wife Arlene of Ephrata; Edwin Zimmerman and wife Erma of Myerstown; Leon Zimmerman and wife Dawn of Myerstown; Leroy Zimmerman and wife Tracy of Hopeland; 24 grandchildren; 88 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Ivan, John Adin, Elmer and Harry Zimmerman; sisters, Anna Mary Redcay and Martha Zimmerman.

Zoll, Glenn, 63, of Denver, PA passed away Monday, April 23, 2018 at the Ephrata Hospital. Glenn was a son of John W. & Helen I. (Martin) Zoll of Ephrata. Married for 42 years, he was the loving husband of Doloris (Leid) Zoll. Glenn worked as a bindery operator for Science Press until 2006, then at Cenveo until 2014. He was a Garden Spot H.S. graduate of 1973 and Vo-Tech Industrial Arts student. Glenn served as a volunteer fireman for over 20 years at Durlach Mt. Airy Fire Co.

An avid outdoorsman, Glenn enjoyed hiking and camping at Twin Streams Camp Grounds in Morris, PA. Most of all, he loved his family, spending time with grandchildren, and visiting his sister in Myrtle Beach. He was a faithful member of Petra Church.

In addition to his wife and parents, Glenn is survived by two sons, Robert E. Zoll of Denver and Gary L. Zoll (Tiffany) of Laurel, DE; seven grandchildren: Hope, Grace, Chase, Paige, Aubrie, Makenzie & Dawson; a sister, Lydia Portner (Ken) of Myrtle Beach; and a brother, D. Eugene Zoll (Florence) of Stevens.

GOSHEN - J. Wesley “Wes” Zook, 93, passed on peacefully Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Cottage Garden, Goshen, with family by his side.

He was born Nov. 30, 1924, in Manitou Springs, Colorado, to J Kore and Ruth (Cooperider) Zook.

Wes was preceded in death by the love of his life, to whom he was married for 63 years, Mary Ruth Branz; a son, John Paul Zook; and siblings, Alma Lais, Ethel Lais and Harold Zook.

Surviving family include children Linda Zook of Estero, Florida, Brenda (Barbara Miller) Zook of Sarasota, Florida, and Becci (Steve) Woodward and Robert (Carolyn) Zook, both of Goshen; a daughter-in-law, Katie Zook of Plano, Texas; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his wife, Viola Bontrager Zook of Goshen; and siblings Kathy Chambers of Goshen, Wilbur Zook of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Herbert Zook of Hesston, Kansas and Irene Martin of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

He worked at Greencroft, Goshen for almost 40 years as buildings and grounds supervisor among other positions. Before that he was the campus plumber at Goshen College.

He was a member of The Evening Exchange Club of Goshen and an active member of College Mennonite Church.

Wes and Mary enjoyed many summers fishing and boating at their place on Dewart Lake.

Following retirement, he played several times a week at different locations hoping to brighten up someone’s day.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 16, in the Koinonia Room at College Mennonite Church.

A 9 a.m. Saturday family prayer service will be conducted prior to burial in Violett Cemetery.

A memorial service will start at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 17, in the College Mennonite Church sanctuary.

He started a harmonica band at Greencroft Goshen while living at Oak Court. Following retirement, he played several times a week at different locations hoping to brighten up someone’s day. He continued to play until a month prior to his passing.

Memorial services were held March 17, 2018 at College Mennonite Chruch, Goshen, IN with burial in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.

Loretta E. Zook, 84, passed away Sunday (April 29, 2018) at Schowalter Villa, Hesston. She was born Oct. 14, 1933, in American Falls, Idaho, the daughter of Sam and Ella Leischner Neuman.

A resident of Hesston most of her life, Loretta was a nurse and very active in Whitestone Mennonite and Kingdom Life churches. She was a caregiver as a mother, grandmother and nurse. She married Lloyd Zook on Aug. 16, 1957. He passed away on July 18, 2017.

Survivors include two sons, David (Lynnette) of Buhler and Kevin (Marcella) of Hesston; two daughters, Karen (John) of Grand Island, Nebraska, and Pam (John) of Moundridge; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A private family graveside service will take place. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday (May 4, 2018) at Schowalter Villa Chapel, Hesston. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday (May 3, 2018), with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Miller-Ott Funeral Home, Hesston.
